Designer Spotlight: Arman Sarkisyan

on left: yellow gold ball pendant with silver and ruby accents on green background with the words "Arman": on right photo of a man in all black

It is no surprise that Arman Sarkisyan became a jewelry designer…artistry runs in his blood. From a young age, Arman watched in awe as his father – a master jeweler in Armenia and Russia with a career spanning 53 years - meticulously honed his craft. Arman became fascinated with the concept of jewelry as wearable art: a tangible expression of one’s imagination, influence, and inspiration. Under the tutelage of his father, he has been creating in this medium for almost 30 years.

Arman’s jewelry brilliantly juxtaposes old-world technique and modern aesthetic. Working in rich 22kt gold, oxidized silver, diamonds, and bright gemstones, Arman uses methods from a bygone era, like hand-engraving, to achieve a level of intricacy and beauty that is rarely seen in today’s craftsmanship. Each piece of Arman is hand-fabricated in Los Angeles, CA, from concept to completion. This couture approach to jewelry sets Arman apart from other designers. From one-of-a-kind masterpieces to everyday wardrobe essentials, there is an emotional element present in each and every one of his pieces. They truly are modern heirlooms.

We will be welcoming Denise from Sethi Couture for a special one-day pop-up on Saturday, November 20th! Sethi Couture is best known for their stacking rings (our philosophy - if you can still bend your knuckle there is room for another). We also love their stud earrings, diamond pendants, bangle bracelets, and other everyday jewelry essentials

Those with November birthdays have two beautiful birthstones to choose from: topaz and citrine. Topaz comes in a rainbow of colors; citrine is prized for its yellow and orange hues. Both birthstones are known to have calming energies while bringing fortune and warmth to the wearer. Find this topaz ring and more at our Alex Sepkus Trunk Show, December 2-4.

To show our thanks during the month of November, we will be donating a portion of proceeds to Northwest Harvest. This local charity supports a statewide network of 375 food banks, meal programs, and high-needs schools. Equitable access to nutritious food is a catalyst for achieving stability and creating healthy, strong communities.

Opal, October's first birthstone, symbolizes faithfulness and confidence. Opal is a type of quartz that forms tiny spheres. When light hits the spheres, all the colors of the spectrum appear. In different lights, an opal’s rainbow fragments shift and change, revealing a fascinating display. We have opal rings from Gurhan, and pink opals from Arman and Lauren Newton!

Tourmaline, the second October birthstone, is one of our favorite gemstones. Egyptian legend says that tourmaline received its colors as it passed through a rainbow on its way up from Earth’s core. Our newest necklace from Alex Sepkus shows off the incredible range of gorgeous tourmaline colors! The gem symbolizes inspiration and once was believed to protect against evil.

Designing sisters Pratima and Prerna Sethi were raised by parents who are purveyors of rare and unusual diamonds, and so their childhood included an education in the world’s most exquisite stones, antique cuts, and rare natural color diamonds.

Combining their love of travel, architecture, and history with their passion for the natural beauty of color diamonds and unexpected vintage cuts of diamonds, Pratima and Prerna design a collection of elevated essentials that tells a story of the past, the present, and the future that can be cherished everyday. From the signature diamond stacking bands to the feminine silhouettes of vintage inspired collections, each Sethi Couture piece can be layered and collected to share your personal style and elevate the everyday.

Celebrate September with Sapphires
yellow gold leaf necklace on wood background
Happy September! We just returned from buying trips to New York and Las Vegas to find the most beautiful jewelry for the fall and the holidays. Now is a great time to start looking for the perfect gift. This one-of-a-kind necklace by Alex Sepkus is just one of our finds. We are now open Tuesday - Saturday. You can make an appointment to see us in person, shop online, or text us at our main number (206.623.2528).

We are deeply saddened to share that Alex Sepkus passed away on Sunday, September 5th. We have been honored to carry his jewelry from the very beginning, nearly 30 years ago. During that time, his unique, whimsical, and marvelous workmanship has become the cornerstone of our store. Rest assured that his extraordinary archive of unreleased work and his master jewelers will keep his artistic vision thriving for years to come.

September babies are lucky indeed to have sapphire as their birthstone. Most people think of classic royal blue when it comes to this gemstone, but sapphires come in every color of the rainbow (except the color red, which is classified as ruby). Sapphires symbolize loyalty, nobility, sincerity and integrity. This blue sapphire pendant by ILA would be the perfect birthday gift!

Gold is back in a big way! Our favorite trend for fall is classic gold bracelets. Stack them up high and wear them with everything! We have an incredible selection of heirloom quality gold bracelets in 18k recycled gold from Single Stone. They also have stunning antique diamond bracelets. All of these pieces are also available in rose gold, champagne gold, and platinum.

In celebration of Rosh Hashanah, we will be donating a portion of sales to Jewish Family Service during the month of September. In 1892, a group of 70 local Jewish women laid the groundwork for this charitable organization, which is a helping hand in our community to people of all backgrounds. Right now they are urgently seeking donations to support individuals and families arriving from Afghanistan.

Designer Spotlight: Nomos Glashutte
Small village in Germany next to train tracks
Nomos Glashutte is the largest manufacturer of fine timepieces in Glashutte, Germany. This little town in Eastern Germany boasts 175 years of watchmaking tradition. Prior to the Cold War, German-made watches were equal in prestige to Swiss-made. When the Berlin Wall went up, German watchmaking vanished into obscurity. In 1990, Roland Schwertener founded Nomos Glashutte to reintroduce the world to German watches. These timepieces showcase Bauhaus-inspired design and in-house movements, made almost entirely by hand in their factory, located in an old train station. We also love that Nomos is a small, family-owned business just like we are! Our Nomos representative will be coming at the end of this month with the new collection and Nomos swag in hand. Stay tuned for more details!

July News: Designer Appearance this Month

July News: Designer Appearance this Month
rings on a rock with blue background. Text reads "Samantha Louise Trunk Show July 29-31. Personal Appearance July 31."

Happy July! Summer is a great time to be in Seattle. Pike Place Market is bursting with flowers, the Fairmont's gorgeous $25 million lobby bar renovation is now open, and we are here Wednesday through Saturday with beautiful jewelry! You can make an appointment to see us in person, shop online, or text us at our main number (206.623.2528).

small images of Seattle including Pike Place Market and the Spheres.

Join us for our Samantha Louise Trunk Show July 29 - 31st! Samantha will be making a personal appearance on Saturday the 31st to show off her newest collection, these unique and completely customizable bands in her signature satin-finish gold. This is also a great time to come in if you have a diamond or other gem you would like to reset!

Gold and emerald rings

July babies have one of our favorite birthstones - the incredibly juicy ruby! Rubies symbolize love, energy, passion, and a zest for life. Along with sapphires, they score a 9 out of 10 on the Moh's scale of hardness, making them a wonderful gemstone to use for an engagement ring or wedding band. Rubies are also the traditional gift for a 40th wedding anniversary.

The new Nomos Glashutte collection continues to roll in! We just received this Limited Edition Tangente 38 Doctors Without Borders. Only 2021 of these watches were produced, and each is numbered in celebration of the 50th anniversary of this humanitarian organization. This special edition is already sold out on the Nomos website, don't miss it!

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT: ZUZKO

We are often asked if we have any local designers. We do! Zuzana Korbelarova lives and creates Zuzko Jewelry on Vashon Island. She is from Prague, Czech Republic originally and grew up surrounded by centuries of art and architechture. She began making her own jewelry when her husband gave up trying to buy it for her after several failed attempts, and instead gifted her with a pair of pliers, an ounce of silver, a jewelry-making class, and a note that said, "Make your own my love." Her handmade sterling silver and gold-fill jewelry starts at just $58.
