Happy April! This month is all about diamonds. If you are an April baby or have an April baby, it's a great time to treat yourself! This pendant with natural colored diamonds in sunny shades of yellow, orange, green, and brown is the perfect mood lifter. April's birthstone is diamond, the best-known and most sought-after of all gemstones. Diamonds were first discovered in India and have been traded since the 4th century BC. Diamond lore over the centuries has said that these gems are an antidote to poison, ward off the evil eye, and protect against the plague (it's worth a try). Today they are best known as a symbol of love and marriage.

If classic round white diamonds aren't your thing, antique diamonds might be for you. These diamonds were cut by hand before today's modern techniques and then passed through generations. They are difficult to find, which makes them even more special. This one-of-a-kind 3.20ct antique asscher cut diamond was cut in the 1920's and is set in a gorgeous modern style.

We love Sethi Couture because not only do they have white diamonds, they have yellow, champagne, pink, green, orange, and black diamonds too! Samantha Louise is also from Colorado, and her collection features a fun and feminine mix of traditional white diamonds and rustic diamonds as well. Her jewelry is done in 18k gold with a soft, satiny matte finish. She also has a great selection of contour bands. If you would like to see any of her jewelry in person, just let us know in advance and we will have it sent in from Colorado for you.

We couldn't have made it through the last year without the support of our wonderful customers. Downtown Seattle is still struggling, and for the month of March we will be donating a portion of our proceeds to our beloved Pike Place Market Foundation. You can read about their recovery campaign here or on our website's charitable giving page.

Spring has us thinking about plants, gardening, and jewels with nature themes. Bugs! Butterflies! Snakes! Alex Sepkus has a wide array of playful bug jewelry that even an insect hater could love. John Apel makes the most beautiful enamel brooches in whimsical butterfly, dragonfly, and floral motifs. And the snake bangle by Arman Sarkisyan is a perennial favorite of ours.

The birthstone for March is aquamarine, named for the blue of the ocean. Pliny the Elder once said, "The lovely Aquamarine, which seems to have come from some mermaid's treasure house, in the depths of the summer sea, has charms not to be denied." They were once carried by sailors as a good luck charm. This aquamarine ring by John Apel could be yours!

February's birthstone is regal purple amethyst. Amethyst is believed to relieve stress, soothe irritability, balance mood swings, and dispel fear, anxiety, and negativity. Our Wellness glass water bottles by GemWater contain amethyst, rose quartz, and clear quartz so you can infuse your water with the healing properties of gemstones. These are a great gift for your Galentine!

Romantic pink morganite jewelry by Jennifer Dawes Design is a lovely choice for a Valentine gift. Morganite is a member of the beryl family (aquamarine and emerald are also beryls) and was named after famed financier and gem enthusiast J.P. Morgan in 1910. Jennifer uses sustainable recycled gold to create her jewelry collection.

Lucky October babies have two birthstones! Opals symbolize faithfulness and confidence. Opals are a type of quartz that forms tiny spheres. When light hits the spheres, the colors of the visible spectrum become appear. In different lights, an opal’s rainbow fragments shift and change, revealing a fascinating display. Tourmaline, the second October birthstone, is one of our favorite gemstones. Egyptian legend says that tourmaline received its colors as it passed through a rainbow on its way up from Earth’s core. The gem symbolizes inspiration and once was believed to protect against evil. You can find tourmalines in rich greens, juicy pinks, and even bicolor tourmalines that have both colors at once! Alex Sepkus always finds the most beautiful tourmalines.
